Shrinking Pores - July 22nd, 2009

Pores and oils are actually important in our skincare.  Now I always wish I had smaller pores, I’m perfectly willing to admit this even with my pride and all.  The pores are extremely important in opening up hair follicles on the skin, and frankly if your pores are too small, they can squeeze out hair growth, which causes balding, not a good thing.  So that makes it a bit of a good thing that my pores are huge.

Granted, I use a regular astringent which shrinks the pores a bit naturally.  But still, I don’t use it on my head for obvious reasons.  But pores frankly are not that bad a thing.  They dilate and become visible yes, but they’re caused by genetic factors in frequency, size, etc.  So you really aren’t going to permanently change your pores.  But as you get older, when they are damaged by the sun, pollution, etc, they actually increase and expand in size, and this can cause more aesthetic problems.  So I’m not sure that I like that idea, being that I already want to shrink them.  But if you minimize them with a good astringent, you can really make a difference, and frankly if you clean as well on a regular basis, it also helps.
